from Pedemonte to Valgatara,
easy walk between vineyards and olive groves of Valpolicella
|
Track n.10 from Pedemonte, Masua,
Gnirega, Valgatara
|
about 4 km long- 1h45 Easy |
Let's begin from the main square of San Rocco, in Pedemonte, where you can easily park your car in front of the church, close to this small temple made of marble, dedicated to the thaumaturgic saint of San Rocco, built thanks to the devotion to this saint from citizens of Pedemonte, as it's remembered in the inscriptions at the bottom of this small monument; it was inaugurated on the 16 August 18880. |

Walk northward for about 100 metres, then turn right into Masua street, leaving on the left side Villa Venturini; you can see the painted emblem on the front of the building in this photo on the left. After a little hill, the track becomes level, and a suggestive atmosphere between vineyards and olive groves surrounds you until finding this tall iron crucifix placed there in 1988. |

Continue walking until the small town of Pigno, to arrive easily to the capital of Cà Spiniella, where you can walk along the strett, always following Masua street. |

The downhill track brings us to the pleasant quarter of Gnirega, surrounded by vineyards, with a small oratory dedicated to saint Luis; obviously, there's also a fountain and some wash-houses to remember a not so old period. |
|||
Then let's continue until the church of Valgatara, maybe of the XVI century, completely restored in 1750 and towards the end of the XVIII century, dedicated to the saints Fermo and Rustico. |
Obviously your palate suggests
you to make some stops to taste local food.
